LOCKERS: Locker Removal at 107 Suite Entry Corridor

Dear J-School Students:

Please note that due to floor repairs at the 107 entrance corridor, we will be removing the lockers in that area, specifically lockers numbers ranging from 6113-6154. These are the larger lockers of the several models in the 100 hallway, located at the West end. Signs have been posted on the locker groups that will be removed early next week.

If you were officially assigned a locker in this group, please see Building Coordinator Derek Gano in Room 104, the mail room, for a reassignment if you would like a new locker space elsewhere. If you are unofficially occupying a locker in this area, please act now to remove your things. Contents left in the lockers by midweek next will be bagged and tagged, and may be picked up in 104.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we regret any inconvenience that this may cause you. But please know that we have abundant alternative locations for reassignment. And please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Best,

Scott Osborn

REQUEST: Volunteers to test the online edition of the AP Stylebook

The Student Affairs office is evaluating the online edition of the AP Stylebook. We are looking for a few student and faculty/adjunct testers who are willing to participate in the evaluation process with us. All that is required is to use it over a two-week period and give us feedback, in the form of a quick online survey and a possible informal in-person meeting.

If you’d like to volunteer, please e-mail StudentAffairsRSVP@gmail.com and indicate your school affiliation (we’d like a wide range of folks in the mix). We’ll assemble the testing team and provide it with passwords.

More on the online stylebook here: http://www.APStylebook.com.

Many thanks!

EVENT: Headlines & Headliners

Attention Students:

Prof. Joe Cutbirth is looking for a half-dozen or so volunteers to work and hang out at Headlines & Headliners, the 13th annual New York benefit for the National Lesbian-Gay Journalist Association.

The event will be emceed by Today Show co-host Meredith Vieira and hosted by Bill Keller, executive editor of The New York Times. It is set for 6-10 p.m.

March 12 at The Times Center, 242 West 41st St.

A big part of the evening is presentation of thousands of dollars in college scholarships from the NLGJA student project to high school students and undergraduates interested in journalism careers.

As appearances by and support from Matt Lauer, Geraldo Rivera, Jeanne Moos and others on the event committee shows (at least Cutbirth thinks) you don’t have to be gay to be part of this star-studded, professional evening.

For more info, go to: http://www.nlgja.org/newyork.htm. E-mail questions and replies to Prof. Cutbirth at jhc2003 at columbia.edu.

REQUEST: Photojournalist seeks writers to collaborate with

A note from a student at ICP. Replies to her, please.

Dear Journalism Students,

I’m currently studying photojournalism at the International Center of Photography and looking for journalists to team up with in my search and development of current and future stories. I focus mainly on human interest stories but am up for and willing to shoot pretty much anything (except blood and violence). I thought meeting one or some of you could be mutually beneficial and by having both words and images, possibly increase our chances of selling stories, articles, etc.

Please get in touch with me if this is something that could interest you.

Best regards,
Lauren Hermele, lhermele [at] yahoo.com
