FACULTY: Laura Muha appointed Asst. Dean for Faculty Affairs

A note from Dean Bill Grueskin:

Folks,

I’m very pleased to announce that Laura Muha has accepted a new role as assistant dean for faculty affairs. She will start in that position at the beginning of January.
Dean Laura Muha
Laura brings precisely the skills we need to this post. She is an accomplished journalist, with 10 years experience as a reporter at Newsday, plus additional years at two Pennsylvania papers and freelance assignments for The New York Times, BusinessWeek and USA Today. She is a terrific instructor, as Journalism School students have learned since she began teaching here in 1995. And she has shown tremendous administrative skills, taking on such challenging tasks as planning the August curriculum, overseeing columbiajournalist.org and helping faculty understand our content-management system.

In this job, Laura will report to me and will help me with many of the short- and long-range issues involving our instructors, from hiring adjuncts to improving training for faculty.

Please join me in congratulating Laura on her new role. And, join me in thanking LynNell Hancock, who has so ably assisted me since I arrived here in September. Her wisdom, patience and counsel have been invaluable.

Allbest,
Bill Grueskin
