FAQ: Why this blog?

The Dean of Students Office (ie, Deans Sreenivasan & Huff) are using this blog to improve communications at the school while reducing e-mail clutter. This format allows us to post and archive items quickly and serves as a record of important memos and reports throughout the year. As we see more people visiting/using the blog, we will be able to cut back on the e-mail messages we send out.

You can use this in four ways to find what you want, fast:

  • Scroll down to read in reverse chronological order.
  • Browse by category (see “filed under” on each post or see the list on the right and choose a category).
  • Browse by calendar archives.
  • Use the search box to search by keywords or phrases.
  • Some of the popular categories include: Getting Things Done, FAQ, Major Memos. There’s also a new Greatest Hits category of, well, the greatest hits - such as they are.

Be sure to check in at least once a day to see if there are any new posts.

The easiest way to find this (apart from bookmarking it or using an RSS reader, if you know how) is under “Quick Links” on the J-school Student Resources
    page at http://www.jrn.columbia.edu/students/.
